The Lodge is zoned Tourist Commercial District (C5), which permits hotels, resorts, motels, restaurants, conference rooms and facilities, gift stores, recreational facilities, a single family dwelling and staff accommodation. The property is appropriately zoned for its existing use.
The C5 designation is a grandfathered provision of the zoning bylaw, which is no longer applicable for new developments or rezonings. This zoning bylaw is considered to be very generous with respect to density vis-à-vis existing zoning bylaws. This provides considerable flexibility and potential for a future owner.
