The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is situated immediately north of Metro Vancouver and is accessed by Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway.  This incredibly scenic area of British Columbia is home to four electoral areas and four municipalities, consisting of Squamish, Pemberton, Lillooet and the world-class ski resort of Whistler.  Although, the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District has a small population of only 35,000, its proximity to Vancouver and abundance of natural amenities makes it a popular tourist and recreation destination.

Howe Sound is a coastal fjord that contains a network of islands, opening onto the Strait of Georgia. Stretching between West Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast, Howe Sound expands over 42 kilometres. Major islands throughout the Sound include Bowen Island, Keats Island and Gambier Island.
