CRD's Proposed Purchase for Portions of WFP Lands
The
Capital Regional District recently issued a press release outlining an agreement
in principal to purchase approximately 5,800 acres (2,348 hectares) of land
from Western Forest Products in the Sooke and Jordan River areas of Vancouver
Island. This proposed sale agreement includes both lands being actively
marketed by Colliers as part of the South Island portfolio, as well as other
private timberlands also owned by Western.
It
is important to note, however, that the proposed sale of lands to the CRD
represents only a portion of the lands currently being marketed by Colliers on
behalf of Western Forest Products in the South Island region of Vancouver
Island. In fact, properties still available include over 4,600 acres of land
and 34 separate land titles. These remaining properties are contained within
the Jordan River, Shirley, Muir Creek and Jacob Creek sub-areas.

Overall, only 1,020 acres (412 hectares), or 16%, of the South Island Portfolio's total offering of 5,700 acres is affected by this proposed transaction.
Lands contained within our current offering that are subject to the proposed transaction with the CRD are as follows:
- Jordan River Group (JR2, JR3, JR5, JR7)
These titles
comprise the majority of the Jordan River waterfront area.
- Sooke Potholes (all titles)
The entire Sooke Potholes
Group is included.
Colliers and Western Forest Products will continue to accept offers on the remaining South Island Lands.
